NANTES THÉÂTRE GRASLIN – 11th & 12th January

Angelin Preljocaj and Franz Schubert take us on an exceptional journey to the heart of amorous despair …

He is a traveler whose long road to death follows following the loss of a love in the cold of winter. The traveler can be as much a man as a woman as Schubert himself, and take the form of a solo, a duet … The 12 dancers express in turn the different facets of his personality, the variations of his emotions …

Winterreise (Voyage d’été) is a cycle of lieder by Franz Schubert, composed from poems by Wilhelm Müller in 1824. The choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, upset by the discovery of this musical jewel of German romanticism, created it in January 2019 for the Ballet de la Scala in Milan. He takes it up today with the dancers of the Ballet Preljocaj.
A ballet that draws into a flood of emotions, into the abyss of an interior journey.
